Carrington Singers and Melody Makers

The Carrington Singers was formed in 1994 when one of our residents (an accomplished pianist) decided to put the Village resident's talents to good use and orgnised a concert for the facility. From those humble beginnings has grown a dedicated group of singers. This group provides the backbone for the two concerts performed each year for residents in the Recreation Centre Hall, as well as various other performances given around the facility in the Residential Care areas.

Carrington Melody Makers was formed in 2002 and are an instrumental ensemble which accompanies the choir on most occasions, plays for functions, and gives a performance every Friday in the Nursing Home for a residents' sing-a-long.

They are in great demand for outside performances, and have played over 70 times for enthusiastic audiences in the last year.

The group consists of a wealth of talent from performers in the age range of 70-86. The main pianist has a long and distinguished musical history, and at 86 still plays as beautifully and accurately as ever - truly a remarkable talent.  Instruments in the ensemble include organ, alto sax, tenor sax, clarinet, trumpet , violin and trombone.  The leader is a professional musician with a wonderful musical knowledge who encourages the best performance from the members.
