Hostel - Low Care

Carrington provides two hostels on site, catering for 144 residents, with 70 additional places currently under construction in Grasmere Terrace which will be completed in early 2009.  Paling Court was built in 1982 and Mary MacKillop Hostel was built in 1994.

All prospective residents are required to be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team before being accepted into hostel accommodation.  ACCRs provide a multidisciplinary assessment of the needs of aged people, in order to ensure the appropriate placement.

Paling Court Hostel

Paling Court Hostel caters for 49 permanent residents and one respite resident.  Rooms are fully serviced rooms with an ensuite bathroom. Some rooms have balconies with a view to Camden.  Others have patios to grassed areas and gardens.  Full dining room and lounge room areas, sitting rooms, and an entertainment room downstairs for activities and concerts, fashion shows and Tai Chi.  As the Hostel is on two levels, there is a lift and a ramp to enable easy access to both floors.

Mary MacKillop Hostel

Mary MacKillop Hostel caters for 94 residents.  56 private, single fully serviced rooms, four double rooms for couples and 2 x 16 room dementia specific wings.  Lounges, kitchens and activity areas in each wing, allow visitors and residents to have quiet areas outside their rooms.  The gardens are available for residents and families to entertain.

Grasmere Terrace

Grasmere Terrace caters for 70 residents with 9 premium suites.  The suites are fully serviced with several double rooms for couples.  The premium suites provide additional features such as a flat screen TV, fridge and well appointed built ins.

The facility is beautifully designed with sweeping views of Carrington's unique rural setting.

The service provides 24 hour care and a variety of support services such as physiotherapy, diversional therapy, pastoral care and podiatry.  The new building has lounge and activities rooms, internet cafe, a chapel, library, hairdressing salon and shop.  All meals are served in the comfort of a high class dining room.
