Accreditation, Quality and Research
Accreditation:
Accreditation is recognition by the Commonwealth Government of achieving 44 standards of excellence across a broad spectrum of criteria. The recognition is determined in several stages, including an on-site two day audit of all aspects of the operations. The audit covers such matters as the health and care of residents. lifestyle issues, management systems, staffing, staff training, organisational development and leadership, physical environment and safety issues.
Carrington Centennial Care Nursing Home received full accreditation in 2010.
Paling Court Hostel was awarded full accreditation in 2011 to 2014.
Mary MacKillop Hostel was awarded full accreditiation in 2011 to 2014.
Grasmere Terrace Facility was awarded full accreditation in 2009 to 2012.
Quality:
The Quality and Continuous Improvement Program at Carrington involves all levels of staff, residents and their families and our external service providers.
Our quality and improvement activities are monitored through the Management and Quality Improvement Committee which meets every second month.
Our Quality Programe is supported by an electronic Complaints Handling Program and Clinical Indicators to monitor and benchmark our clinical activities, residents' forums to seek residents and family feedback about service provision and quality of care.
Research and Education:
Carrington's extended philosophy on ageing leadership incldues the creation of new research and innovation which will further Carrington's lead role within the aged care industry.
Our research activities are designed to ensure that Carrington's residents receive optimal care through better practice.
Carrington is a lead research partner within a consortium of aged care providers and the University of Western Sydney.
Carrington entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Medical Faculties at both the University of Western Sydney and Notre Dame University (Sydney Campus) for the placement of medical students at Carrington for training purposes.
